How to identify years and options. The '70 has 4 headlights and marker lights in the front fenders. The '71 has 2 headlights and wrap around marker lights with a horizontal bar seperating the upper and lower sections. The front grill had one horizontal bar seperating the upper and lower sections. The '72 has 2 headlights and wrap around marker lights with just one section per marker light. The front grill had two horizontal bars seperating 3 grill sections. The raised hood was standard for the SS and Heavy Chevy while the Cowl Induction hood was optional for the big block SS. Dual hood/deck lid stripes were also an option for the SS. The tail lights for the '70 were square while the '71-'72 were 4 round ones, 2 for lights and 2 for backup lights. The SS option for all years had the 396(in chrome) and 454(in red) emblems underneath but the '71 and '72 could also have the small block 350, and the car's SS emblem stood alone on the front fender in that case. The Heavy Chevy, availabe for '71 and '72, had a long horizontal stripe above the wheels openings and a decal "HEAVY CHEVY" behind the front wheel. |
